Membership registration change

Starting Fall 2024

Membership registration change

There is a new approach to the club's training facility & league fee collection.

How it previously worked in the 2023-2024 soccer year:

Once per year:

There was a $50 membership fee to be part of the club for 1 year covering fall through spring.  This covers club liability insurance, player medical insurance, player passes, NYS roster fees, US Soccer registration fees, coaching background checks, US Soccer based coaching education, equipment such as pop-up goals, cones, pinneys, medical kits and supplies like ice packs, gauze and tape.  There is a $100 family cap so if you register 3 players for a year the third does not pay.  The problem with this registration was getting it collected.  Administration and team managers had to actively manage reminding households to complete this.

For every session:

$0 to register for a session, we invoice later.  Players join teams throughout the session, even after it begins, which is very typical.  Once the player count stabilizes we simply add up the expense by team and divide by the number of players.  Parents only pay to cover the raw cost of the expenses, the club makes no money on any soccer session.

Moving forward in Fall 2024 and beyond:

No yearly $50 membership fee to pay.

For every session:

Sessions will have 2 payment installments, breaking up a larger bill.  The first is paid when you register for the season.  $20 of that is the club seasonal membership fee and goes towards the yearly administrative expenses described above.  The remainder is a credit and goes toward your player's seasonal expense.  When the team's player count stabilizes mid way through the session we will still add up the raw cost and divide by player count; nothing changes here.  The remainder between your first installation and this cost will be invoiced to your account as the second installation.

Family cap: Most players don't participate in all the soccer sessions.  With the less expensive pay-as-you-go simplified membership approach we are removing the family cap.

WHAT!?  Let's go through an example:

Starting in fall of this 2024 season $50 is charged at the time of fall session registration.  $20 of this goes to the club as the seasonal membership.  A $30 credit goes on your account.  If the BCSA league & referee fees turn out to be a TOTAL of $65 per player you will be invoiced for $35 mid season.  ($30 through your first seasonal installment at registration time, $35 through your second which will be invoiced)

Our goal is to both simplify our process by removing a membership registration and to spread out the cost to parents per session.  In addition club administrators and team managers can refocus the hours previously spent managing the memberships into bettering the club's soccer programming.
